PAMM presents Stitched Statements: Textile Banners with Cheryl Pope

Sunday, July 5th from 1 – 3pm enjoy Stitched Statements: Textile Banners with Cheryl Pope at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). Create a meaningful, decorative textile wall hanging with internationally renowned multidisciplinary artist Cheryl Pope.

In this two-day workshop, explore the special exhibition, Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture, to discover how artists use traditional sports banners, pennants, flags, and fashion to express powerful ideas—including Pope’s own letter jacket artwork. These artworks will inspire the creation of our own stitched statements.

In the studio, we’ll reflect on language and writing before designing and preparing felt lettering on banner backings. Using simple appliqué and hand-stitching techniques, we’ll bring our words to life. The result—bold, meaningful banners with motivational messages about everyday life, personal reflections, social justice, or simply for fun!

This workshop is for participants ages 14+. Free with museum admission. Admission is $18 for adults and free for members.
