Brushes With Cancer Returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center on September 24th for an Evening of Art, Resilience & Hope

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts invites art lovers, collectors, and the Miami community to experience Brushes With Cancer, a program of Twist Out Cancer that pairs artists with people whose lives have been touched by cancer, including previvors, survivors and caregivers. Together, they create powerful works of art inspired by each person’s unique story and journey. All are invited to enjoy the Opening Reception of Brushes With Cancer, with a special art viewing and silent auction on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6pm, featuring original works of art created through this transformative program in the Knight Concert Hall Lobby. This event is free and open to the public. RSVP HERE.

Through the Brushes With Cancer program, artists and their inspirations connect in person or virtually, building meaningful relationships through meetups and guidance from mentors, often clinicians, who help foster a supportive community throughout the creative process. The program culminates in a celebratory art exhibition at the Arsht, bringing together program participants, families, artists, and the Miami community. The evening will feature remarks from program participants, refreshments and a silent auction of original works created through the program.

One of the program’s inspirations, Ashley Smith, described the experience as an opportunity to share her story and connect with someone who genuinely wanted to understand her journey: “Brushes With Cancer, to me, has just been a really neat opportunity to share my story and to connect with someone who is there to hear me and wants to be involved in understanding more about my path.”
