Thursday, September 15th from 5-9pm enjoy the Norton Museum of Art‘s popular weekly program Art After Dark – Where Culture and Entertainment Meet. Presenting an eclectic and fascinating mix of art, music, film, and more, including docent-led tours exploring a particular theme in the Museum Collection or a special exhibition, and Curators’ Conversations focusing on exhibitions they’ve organized. Art workshops and demonstrations are also part of the fun.

5:30pm / Tour: Mythic Creatures in Chinese Art / Meet in Harris Gallery

6-8pm /  Artist Demonstration: Sculpting Dragons
Lauren Shapiro, an accomplished, Miami-based ceramist who has also worked in China, will discuss and demonstrate how an artist can create relief sculpture dragons in clay, similar to those celebrated in the current Spotlight exhibition. / East Courtyard

6-8pm / DIY: Dragons at Play
Explore the stunning Chinese Dragon Roof Ridge Fascia Panels – a new acquisition – and make your own creation come alive through a hands-on art activity. / East Courtyard

6:30pm / Curator’s Conversation: Chinese Dragon Roof Ridge Fascia Panels
Laurie Barnes, Curator of Chinese Art, discusses the remarkable, large-scale, ceramic work, dating to the Ming dynasty (15th to early 16th centuries). / Trust Gallery

7pm /A Closer Look: Richard Tuttle’s Beethoven Stop on the Way to Egypt, 1986

7:30-8:45pm / Theatre Lab @ Norton: Love Is by Angie Radosh and Caryl Fantel
Join Carbonell Award-winning performer Radosh and Carbonell-nominated Music Director/pianist Fantel to explore this unique musical exploration of the many faces of love. You’ll find lots to learn and love in this entertaining performance that’s also a master class for actors…and for us all. Followed by a talk-back session with Theatre Lab Artistic Director Lou Tyrrell and the cast.
