PAMM Free Second Saturdays: Juneteenth Celebration

Saturday, June 13th from 11am – 3pm enjoy PAMM Free Second Saturdays: Juneteenth Celebration at the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). Celebrate Juneteenth at the museum with a high-energy day of rhythm, resilience, and hands-on creativity!
Through live music and storytelling, join in as Hued Songs presents “Songs of Juneteenth”, an immersive concert and workshop where ancestral echoes meet contemporary expression. Spirituals, ancestral call and response, and contemporary sounds come together to reflect how music has carried memory, resistance, and resilience across generations and asks: what does freedom sound like today?
In the galleries, dive into the vibrant, layered world of artist Derek Fordjour, centering on his powerful piece, Worst to Be First, from our latest exhibition, Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture. It’s more than just a painting—it’s a story about the hustle, the heart, and what it means to claim your space.
Also join guided, Black art gallery tours to see how Fordjour uses newspaper and bright colors to capture the tension of “the game,” followed by a trip to our art-making stations. There, you’ll get to be the artist—layering materials to tell your own story and celebrate the enduring spirit of Juneteenth.
With extra activations popping up throughout the afternoon, the museum will be buzzing with movement, music, and surprises around every corner. Grab the kids and come help turn the galleries into a space of joy, reflection, and collective history!
Join In! Admission is free all day. Art activities from 11am-3pm.
