This Independence Day\, Frost Science Museum is staying open late so you can spend more time exploring their newest exhibitions — like Power of Poison: From the Depths of the Sea to Your Own Backyard and Da Vinci – Inventions — and the thrilling new Frost Planetarium show\, Journey to the Stars!\nYou’ll start your morning with a special meet-and-greet with an avian friend from the museum’s Batchelor Wildlife Center rehabilitation clinic — an American Bald Eagle! Learn unique biological facts about these majestic birds as well as conservation tips on how to ensure they continue to soar to stable populations.\nThen\, enter the MeLaβ for a presentation that’s sure to spark your curiosity: the “Science of Fireworks!” You’ll discover the science behind colorful combustions before enjoying expanded offerings of the museum’s “Spark of Science” program and “A Tale of Toxicology” live show in the Power of Poison theater. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 14th from 4-7pm join us at The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum for the exhibition opening reception for Connectivity: Selections from the Collection of the Frost Art Museum and Deconstruction: A reordering of life\, politics\, and art. Connectivity shares recent gifts\, celebrates the Frost Art Museum’s collection of treasures\, and includes rarely seen objects from the vaults collected over the past 40 years since the museum’s inception in 1978. Select objects featured in the installation will be rotated periodically.\nDeconstruction: A reordering of life\, politics\, and art presents the work of twelve Miami-based artists who interrogate varying notions of deconstruction in their work. By taking apart ideas and processes\, they create mechanisms through which life\, politics\, and art can be re-examined.\nThe exhibition opening is free and open to the public. RSVP here. For this edition\, ArtCenter is also hosting the Opening Reception of E-State Realisms\, an exhibition exploring our digital and analog worlds continuing to merge\, and how we are only beginning to understand the profound effects this change is having on our society. How then\, can art help us understand the impact of the internet on our everyday lives? Curated by ArtCenter Fellow Emer Grant and featuring works by the Gala Committee\, Harm van den Dorpel\, Felice Grodin\, Nick Lobo and Jillian Mayer. This exhibition will be on view through September 30\, 2018.\nThis event will begin at 6pm with a panel discussion between Critic and ArtCenter Fellow Nora Khan and Chief Curator Red Bull-New York Max Wolf on criticism and marketing conflation across cultural praxis.
