DESCRIPTION:Friday\, March 3rd from 6-9pm Tranter-Sinni Gallery presents their new exhibit Asian Inspirations with works by Canal Cheong-Jagerroos\, Joyce Fukunaga\, Wai Hong\, and Peng Qi. Join us for the Opening Reception for Asian Inspirations on Friday\, March 3rd form 6-9pm. Tranter-Sinni Gallery’s Asian Inspirations exhibition will bring to light some emerging as established Asian artists that will be hitting the art scene at Tranter-Sinni Gallery this year. The styles of each artist are very unique with each having their own technique but all mixing the modern and traditions of their culture. Asian Inspirations will present sisters Canal Cheong-Jagerroos and Joyce Fukunaga\, Wai Hong\, and Peng Qi. Each four of these artists have demonstrated impressive exhibition history across Europe and Asia but are only just now becoming known in the United States. Representing all one country\, China\, although most of the artists have left their hometowns and developed their techniques and concepts through their travels throughout the world. This is apparent in each style of paintings. Works range from acrylic on canvas to Chinese pigments on rice paper. Some have more contemporary influences\, while others have influences deep rooted in ancient Chinese culture. These four artists come together under one roof to showcase their unique talents while still working harmoniously together. This is not one you will want to miss. Exhibit will be on view from March 3rd through April 14th\, 2017.\nAlso enjoy a special addition exhibit\, Dating Jungle: “Meet the Artist”\, by Claudia Chanhoi. She was born in Norfolk\, Virginia. Carin graduated with a degree in Advertising Design from the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale\, winning their Angelo DiVincenzo Life Drawing award of a full term scholarship twice. Wagner works predominately in oil on canvas\, with a message of environmental protection at its core.\nShe has exhibited throughout the U.S.\, including representation at the Sherry French Gallery\, New York\, NY\, the Silvia Wald\, Po Kim Gallery in New York\, NY\, the Lawrence Gallery in Scottsdale\, AZ\, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach\, and the Lighthouse Center for the Arts. Her work has been included in multiple museum shows\, including the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art\, the Coral Springs Museum of Art\, the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the Cornell Museum in Delray.

DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 7th through Saturday\, March 11th from 10am-8pm Aventura Mall will present smART Gallery\, a unique art exhibition geared to families and children. The gallery\, which is in partnership with The Children’s Trust\, will feature more than 40 pieces of art in various mediums created by local and national professional artists. The pieces are themed to promote literacy and numeracy in the Miami-Dade community and will be displayed at eye-level viewing for children to fully appreciate the experience. The event benefits the Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership\, which helps families gain the literacy and language skills they need by developing parents’ roles as teachers\, so children will have high quality language and literacy instruction to prepare them for school. All artwork will be for sale\, with proceeds benefiting Miami-Dade Family Learning Partnership and the artists. Aventura Mall partnered with Just My Height Art Shows to curate the gallery pieces. SUMMARY:Centro Cultural Español presents Angela Valella
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, March 9th from 7-9:30pm join us at Centro Cultural Español Miami (CCE) for the Opening Reception of Letter from the Unknown by Angela Valella\, the artist examines what might be referred to as arcane or archaic modes of communication and technologies\, presenting the afterlife those yester years’ technologies has found in the visual arts. The exhibition comes to discuss issues of display and presentation as well as ideas of conservation and preservation.\nLetter from Unknown (Woman) is a 1922 novel by Stephan Sweig that was the basis of the 1948 movie by the same name. The title is borrowed from the movie of that name. The exhibition explores the encounter between written text and the digital age-of forms of that represent a material desire for the past and our present means of communication. There will be a collection of first found written literary work and drawings by a writer whose work was never published together with the artist sculptures\, installation\, collages and video. The exhibition will be on view until April 28th.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, March 18th at 2pm join us in celebration of welcoming Jaume Plensa’s gigantic sculpture Looking Into My Dreams\, Awilda to its new home in Museum Park\, Pérez Art Museum Miami will host a talk by the world renowned artist. Monumentalizing everyday individuals\, as well as youth and femininity\, Awilda presents the artist’s large-scale portrait of a young girl from his native Barcelona.\nThe piece was initially shown in Rio de Janeiro by the sea\, where it took on additional references\, particularly Plensa’s interest in the Yoruba female deity of the sea\, Lemanjá. The piece then traveled to Millennium Park in Chicago\, where it became a popular icon for the city. Awilda’s new home in Miami returns her to a seaside location\, as her serene face\, with closed eyes\, is positioned in front of the Port of Miami.
