SUMMARY:Grand Opening of the George Daniell Museum in South Beach
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, April 3rd from 6pm – Midnight experience the Grand Opening of the George Daniell Museum in South Beach’s New Wilzig Museum Building during Miami Beach Pride Week. The Wilzig Museum (World Erotic Art Museum) is located in South Beach\, which currently houses the WEAM\, the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to fine erotic art founded by the late Naomi Wilzig in 2005. The opening of the George Daniell Museum is the first step in the development of the space as a future multi-museum building. The grand opening will take place as part of Miami Beach Pride Week in partnership with WEAM and will feature music by DJs Andres Aguirre and Mayra Jaimes\, an open bar\, and access to the museum galleries. There will be a George Daniell pop-up shop that will offer first access to limited edition photo portfolios by the artist.\nGeorge Daniell was a gay American photographer and artist. He worked for Time and Life magazines\, and was known for his portraits of Audrey Hepburn\, Sophia Loren\, Lena Horne\, and Georgia O’Keeffe. The new George Daniell Museum features photographs\, paintings and aquarelles from throughout the artist’s life\, reborn into the public consciousness thanks to the German organization Zentraldepot.\nThe event is free to attend.

Tabdeeli\, meaning “transformation” in Urdu\, is a performance exploring cultural\, political\, and personal displacement. The movements of the dancers represent a journey that depends on the individual’s determination to reach his/her full potential\, to change his/her narrative from one of trauma to healing. The audience becomes witness to this transformation and is encouraged to consider how their own narratives can be rewritten. Notions of resisting\, pushing against\, and transcending barriers\, taboos\, and social and political norms are expressed through the dancers\, who stretch and struggle within the translucent fabric constricting their movements. A limited number of these incredibly creative seat artworks will be presented at the world premier Miami Marine Stadium Talking Seats artwork preview exhibit. The featured artists are: Bibi Andrade\, Becca Butler\, Alfredo Cappelli\, Elisa Cellini\, Georgie Hernandez\, Adam Thompson\, Vickie Pierre\, Rush Bowles\, Courtney Einhorn\, Monique Lassooij\, Donna Lee Steffens and Enma Saiz.\nThere will be 1930’s music\, artist talks and drinks & small bites. DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 25th at 6:30pm enjoy the opening reception of Seven Solos at Cornell Art Museum. Seven Solos is a departure from the usual group show\, featuring only seven artists who will each create a unique\, immersive\, site-specific experience in six galleries plus the atrium space. Curator Melanie Johanson has worked closely with all seven artists to create an exhibition like none the museum has shown before.
