DESCRIPTION:Friday\, September 6th from 6-9pm Emerson Dorsch is proud to present an Opening Reception for Spanish artist Alfonso Borragán’s first exhibition in the United States. His exhibition Bucarolito will open at the end of a month in residence at the gallery and will be on view through October 5\, 2019 at Emerson Dorsch gallery in Miami’s Little Haiti.\nHere the raw elements of Borragán’s art boil down to the MOUTH and the STONE. Think\, if you will\, of all the ways the human mouth serves as a threshold between an individual and the world at large. Similarly\, contemplate how many ways stones and their particulates represent site\, the earth\, the material universe\, and its non-living scaffolding. The action at the center of each of Borragán’s experiences is TO INGEST and to inscribe and reveal an image through this action. This is the alchemy. For\, in his environment of magenta phyto lights and dusty air\, groups ingest stones together. In this case\, they eat bucaros\, which are small\, unfired clay vessels eaten by the Spanish Aristocracy in the 17th century. Clay and earth ingestion is an ancient practice. There are traces of Egyptian ingestions of the Limes of Nile. Partially eaten ceramics have been found in Greece. Romans imported Greek edible ceramics with great impact; they led to terra sigillata. Bucaros appear in Renaissance still lives and in Diego Velázquez’s painting Las Meninas. Atlantic Avenue and guides attendees to the six participating business for chances to win prizes and merchandise coupons. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 14th from 10am – 12pm The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery and Exhibition presents a mixed media workshop. Artist Ronald Sánchez will demonstrate a variety of street art techniques merged with typography\, masking and assemblage. Students will apply these methods to create an eye-catching work of contemporary art that is equal parts pop and urban art.\nSánchez is a mixed media conceptual artist based out of the Laundromat Art Space artist residency program in Miami. His artwork combines typography\, tagging and other paint media with otherwise overlooked items from everyday life\, such as reclaimed wood\, street signs and other found objects.\nThis event is free to the public. This art exhibit\, curated by Sebastien Laboureau\, resident art and music advisor to the Sagamore Hotel\, will showcase over 100 artworks from artists coming from all over the world illustrating how music is deeply impacting our everyday lives.\nVisual art and music have long shared a natural connection. Their relationship is explored through the interaction of balance\, form\, style\, design\, harmony\, and emotion. The Remix exhibition explores the enduring influence music and celebrated musicians has on contemporary art practices. The exhibition will be on view from September 18th through November 30th\, 2019.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, September 25th from 7-10pm experience the Opening Reception of Juan Jose Cambre’s exhibition\, Fiesta\, at Dot Fiftyone Gallery. The gallery presents Fiesta\, the first solo exhibition in Miami by artist Juan José Cambre. Curated by Verónica Flom\, this exhibition consists of a series of recent paintings\, continuing with his interest in the exploration of color and geometry. On view through November 24\, 2019.\nHis pieces have been executed starting from planes that overlap and generate vertical stripes of new hues. The different matrices are presented as chromatic tests\, and it is from these nuances that the different pieces are produced. After going through several phases in his paintings: an expressionist period during the 1980s\, followed by a series of vessels for more than a decade and\, later\, by paintings of lights and shadows between trees starting in 2000\, Juan José Cambre is now concentrating on his never-ending interest in color\, by means of his choice of a simple and elegant geometric design.\nJuan José Cambre (b. 1948\, Argentina) has been one of the most important artists in Argentina’s art scene for the last forty years. Among his most notable solo exhibitions are the following: Mano de obra\, Colección Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat\, 2017; Desde el paisaje\, Museo Caraffa\, Córdoba\, and Museo Castagnino-MACRO\, Rosario\, 2014; Cromática\, MACBA\, 2013; and Novum Ovum\, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella\, 2012. Join AIRIE for a special Saturday in the Park and celebrate the closing of their current exhibit “Fragile” and National Public Lands Day in Everglades National Park. Fragile closes on Tuesday\, October 1\, 2019.\nAs official Volunteers in the Park\, AIRIE residents work with park rangers\, scientists and the public to create new and creative ways to experience and engage in one of our country’s most fragile resources – our wild\, public lands. For this special Saturday in the Park\, enjoy free admission not only to the AIRIE Nest Gallery to view the exhibition Fragile\, a multi-media exhibition exposing and examining the delicate fragility of the Everglades ecosystem\, but also enjoy free entrance to the park itself to explore the over 1.5 million acres of the country’s only subtropical wetland. (Park entrance fee normally $30 per vehicle.)\nComprised of works by 11 multidisciplinary artists who have participated in the AIRIE residency\, Fragile unearths new perspectives on the intricate and complex systems in which the vastness of the River of Grass operates. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 28th from 6-10pm Dimensions Variable (DV) is pleased to present 10—A Decade\, a group exhibition bringing together five past DV artists with five new ones from September 28—December 30\, 2019\, in celebration of DV’s tenth anniversary. Felice Grodin\, Fabian Peña\, Jamilah Sabur\, Tom Scicluna\, and Agustina Woodgate all represent artists who had solo/two-person projects at DV in the past. Nathalie Alfonso\, Yanira Collado\, GeoVanna Gonzalez\, Francisco Masó\, and Christina Pettersson are all artists that DV has been wanting to work with. This group is bound together by respect for their work and the diverse themes present in their practices.\nIt’s been ten years since DV officially opened in the Miami Design District in September of 2009. Since then\, many artists have come through leaving their indelible mark with inspiring projects. DV went from an unfunded upstart to a community voice for championing projects of up-and-coming and under-recognized artists with well-respected work—all while under the leadership of artists. With their 10th anniversary and their official nonprofit status\, they want to continue to push the boundaries of what a cultural space is and how it can better serve its artists and community. This year\, they expanded to include additional artists and an archivist to support more members of our community. DV is also making sure they will always be led by artists in support of artists.\nThe exhibition will also function as an auction to support DV’s programs\, facilities\, and participating artists. We hope you consider participating in the auction as 70% of the funds will support the artists and 30% will support DV.

This Event is Free and Open to the Public\, RSVP here.\nWhere the Oceans Meet is an exhibition of modern and contemporary art that resonates with the pioneering thought of two Caribbean writers\, Lydia Cabrera and Édouard Glissant. The show is comprised of an international group of artists and collectives consider notions of shifting and porous borders—and how crossing borders has shaped our world. They articulate various aspects of the two scholars’ thoughts on race\, diaspora\, colonialization\, creolization\, language\, and territory\, particularly with regards to Miami’s position in a world that never stops turning.
