SUMMARY:de la Cruz Collection Summer Workshop: Zine Workshop with Dale Zine
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, July 21st\, Friday\, July 22nd & Saturday\, July 23rd; a 3-Day Workshop from 11am-4pm at the de la Cruz Collection. Dale Zine is a Miami local printing press who curates a community of artists of all trades and invites them to create zines. Dale Zine features many artists including Friendswithyou\, Jen Stark\, Ahol Sniffs Glue\, Gabriel Alaca\, Michelle Weinberg among others.\nAlongside curating\, Dale zine hosts zine making workshops for children. For these seminars\, Dale Zine provides materials\, including copy machines and mini blank zines. Our focus is to engage our students\, and through workshops\, demonstrate that there are no limits to the creative process of the zine editions.

DESCRIPTION:July 21st from 6-9pm enjoy the Opening of Swimming with Narcissus featuring visual artist Dana Donaty at the Bailey Contemporary Arts in Pompano Beach from 6-9pm\, this group show investigates identity and persona of both the artist\, and of the viewer\, as provoked by the artist. The exhibit is a survey of typical self portraits\, instead of a tangible reflection of the figure based in realism\, these contemporary approaches are instead conceptual meditations of the psyche\, where representations of the self may be distorted and altered\, resulting in a diverse embodiment of identity.

SUMMARY:ICA Ideas: 'Pictures of Susan' Documentary
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, July 21st at 7pm The Institute of Contemporary Art\, Miami presents the South Florida premiere of “Pictures of Susan\,” a feature documentary about rising New Zealand-based artist Susan Te Kahurangi King by Director Dan Salmon. With the enduring support of her family\, King creates expressive\, boldly undulating works of color and line that frequently coalesce into appropriated cartoon-like characters\, predating Pop art. The film examines the artist’s upbringing and earliest works\, her twenty-year dormant period\, and the recent resurgence in interest from the art world for her idiosyncratic drawings since resuming in 2008.
