DESCRIPTION:Friday\, February 24th at 12pm join us at Florida International University’s Department of Art + Art History on Lincoln Road for FIU’s Miami Beach Urban Studios (MBUS) ‘Social Practice Art: Brown Bag Talks’\, featuring Laurencia Strauss as she challenges and confronts notions of interdependence. Through her site and socially based practice\, she investigates vulnerabilities and ingenuities of people and the places they inhabit. Paradoxes and system thinking influence her inquiries across art\, craft and design. As a queer mixture of Argentinian and southern US cultures coupled with growing up in the ecologically sensitive\, tourist gazing city of Miami\, Strauss is predisposed to seek these indeterminate complexities.
