DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, October 18th from 6-9pm join us at Artium Gallery in the Wynwood Arts District for the Opening Reception of En Dior Confiamos\, a solo exhibition by artist Ernesto Javier Fernandez\, in which the artist examines life in today’s Cuba. In his series\, “In Dior We Trust / En Dior Confiamos”\, Ernesto Javier critiques the entertainment industry for its recent use of Cuba as an exotic locale for its films and fashion shows while the economic situation for ordinary Cubans remains so dire. Artium‐Miami Art Gallery is a space for dissemination of contemporary art with a program open to diversity and an interest in developing local collectors; with locations in Miami\, Florida and Santiago\, Chile.

SUMMARY:ICA Miami: Filipa César Lecture + Screening
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, October 18th at 7pm join us at the Institute of Contemporary Art\, Miami for a screening of Spell Reel (2017\, 96 mins)\, the debut feature film by Portuguese artist and filmmaker Filipa César\, followed by a discussion.\nFilipa Cesar is an artist and filmmaker interested in the fictional aspects of the documentary\, the porous borders between cinema and its reception\, and the politics and poetics inherent to moving image. Since 2011\, she has been looking into the origins of the cinema of the African Liberation Movement in Guinea Bissau as a laboratory of resistance to ruling epistemologies. César premiered her first feature-length essay-film Spell Reel at the Forum section of the 67th Berlinale\, 2017.
