DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, March 23rd from 7-8pm Locust Projects + Oolite Arts present ‘Talks‘ at the Little Haiti Cultural Center for a conversation with Amada Cruz\, Director and CEO of Seattle Art Museum. This event is Free & open to the public. Come hear Cruz talk about her curatorial work and the artists who have inspired her practice. RSVP HERE. \nAbout the Speaker: Amada Cruz was named the Illsey Ball Nordstrom Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Seattle Art Museum in September 2019. Born in Havana\, Cuba\, Cruz studied Art History and Political Science at New York University. Her first museum position was as a curatorial intern at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York\, where she subsequently worked as a Curatorial Assistant. \nCruz’s career includes significant leadership positions at museums across the country\, such as: the Lannan Museum in Lake Worth Florida\, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian Institution\, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago\, and the Center for Curatorial Studies Museum at Bard College. Cruz served as The Sybil Harrington Director and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Art Museum from February 2015 to July 2019. \nIn addition\, Cruz served as the former executive director of the San Antonio-based nonprofit residency program Artpace and was the founding program director for United States Artists in Los Angeles.
