DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 8th from 12 – 1:30pm NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale presents Creativity Exploration: Hispanic Heritage Month Sculptural Paintings. Inspired by the hinged panels by Carlos Alfonso in the NSU permanent collection\, create an abstract work of art using symbols\, color\, pattern\, and visual rhythm and transform the work into an accordion sculpture. Advance reservations are required\, space is limited. \nCreativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of creative exploration and the mind-to-body experience. Studies have shown that 45 minutes of creative activity a day reduces stress and offers mental clarity and relaxation. In addition to producing a sense of well-being\, sessions expand participants’ perceptions of forms\, while increasing brain connectivity through visual and cognitive stimulation. The workshop is led by educator Lark Keeler\, a specialist in mindfulness education. \nNo prior experience is necessary. Enjoy an evening of not-so-spooky festivities including a live DJ set by Kumi Alvarez from WDNA’s Brainville\, live figure drawing a la Bob Ross with Raw Figs on the terrace\, and a live score of “It’s the Great Pumpkin\, Charlie Brown” by the Zach Bartholomew Quintet. Come dressed up in your best Bob Ross costume and indulge in festive drinks and spooky snacks available for purchase. \nMusic and figure drawing on the terrace is free.
