But Renoir grew restless with his own success\, and the work that followed his pivot remains as polarizing today as it was in his lifetime. \nThis film draws on the remarkable Renoir collection at Philadelphia’s Barnes Foundation to trace that later evolution. The paintings still provoke strong\, divided reactions. Picasso and Matisse count among the artists who were clearly shaped by where Renoir chose to go.
