SUMMARY:Manuel Felguérez at Durban Segnini Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 18th from 7-10pm join us at Durban Segnini Gallery for the opening of Manuel Felguérez exhibition ‘Felguérez‘. Mathematics\, science\, and machines are the original inspirations of the imaginary world of the artist. Being an avid reader of science fiction\, a tendency developed in him\, which has influenced the poetics and the themes of his work. The exhibition offers a platform to analyze his sculptures and his latest paintings\, which appears to be an important step to explain the reason for his juxtaposition of visual resources in a way that seems contradictory on the surface. The exhibition is on view from November 18th through March 2017.

SUMMARY:de la Cruz Collection: Progressive Praxis
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 29th the de la Cruz Collection presents their 2017 exhibition\, Progressive Praxis. By merging a variety of styles and mediums\, the works selected for this year’s exhibition mirror contemporary culture while allowing an open-ended conversation of various interpretations and possibilities. The context of this exhibition is to create a critical understanding of our shifting visual culture. Runs from November 29th\, 2016 through November 2017.\n‘Progressive Praxis’ considers the impact of preceding art movements and how contemporary artists conceptually engage with the advancements of technology. Our society is conditioned to create\, disseminate\, and alter information as they see fit. The use of computers as a method of executing work is no longer a game changer for artists\, as there are no traditional boundaries between the virtual and physical. Artists today embrace technology to overcome the limitations of physicality and past formal art processes. The artists selected for this exhibition reveal a generational position that is inherent to an artistic idea and language of their time. The works in the exhibition create a dialogue between past and present. The exhibit also emphasizes the relationship between object and space\, as the architecture of the galleries was taken into consideration in framing this exhibition.\nSpecial hours during Art Basel Miami Beach\, Tuesday\, November 29th through Saturday\, December 3rd\, 2016 are 9am to 3pm. Admission to museum\, lectures\, events and all educational programs are free of charge. Museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday\, from 10am to 4pm.

SUMMARY:Very young artist Charles Gitnick speaks out against gun violence in America through his artwork at Spectrum Miami
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, November 30th through Sunday\, December 1st experience the work of 14-year-old artist Charles Gitnick exhibiting at Spectrum Miami during Art Basel Miami Week 2016. The very young artist speaks out against gun violence in America through his artwork. Based in Woodland Hills\, California\, the artist is appearing at Spectrum Miami Art Fair this week in the Wynwood Arts District making a loud cry against gun violence. Gitnick began painting landscapes and seascapes at the age of 7. His current work\, 3D presentations of replica guns mounted and treated with various techniques\, inspires the viewer to consider gun violence\, its impact on our children and the poignant voice they raise.\nThe artist uses a variety of styles and techniques to create his 3D Gun Art. His abstract paintings\, created by using a spring-loaded toy air rifle and other techniques\, incorporate the gun but make it either disappear into the piece or take on a new association. His art blurs the focus on the gun within it and evokes provocative thought and dialog. Gitnick has achieved amazing popularity in the social media realm and also around the world through his participation in Art Monaco 2015\, Art Bogota 2015\, Art Zurich 2015 and various Solo Exhibitions.
