SUMMARY:The Bass presents Sheila Hicks: Campo Abierto (Open Field)
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 13th from 5-8pm Bass Members will enjoy a private opening reception of Sheila Hicks: Campo Abierto (Open Field) at The Bass. Campo Abierto (Open Field) is a major exhibition for the American-born\, Paris-based artist\, presenting work from the past six decades of her practice. At the age of 84 and with such an expansive career exhibiting internationally\, Hicks’ work has not been widely seen in the United States. Grouping works of art from various periods\, the exhibition explores the formal\, social and environmental aspects of landscape that have been present\, yet rarely examined\, in her work. The exhibition brings together several large-format installations\, as well as more intimately-scaled works\, that utilize and transform the architecture of the galleries at The Bass. Exhibition is on view through September 29th\, 2019.\n  \nImage: Sheila Hicks\, Escalade Beyond Chromatic Lands\, 2016-17. Installation view at Biennale di Venezia\, Venice\, Italy\, 2017.
