SUMMARY:BREACH presents "Middle Aged Mutants" Matija Bobicic
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 15th from 11am – 8pm experience the Opening of BREACH gallery’s exhibition by Matija Bobicic\, “Middle Aged Mutants” – on view through February 12\, 2022. \nSlovenia-born artist Matija Bobicic\, presents paintings with unrestrained and untamed imaginative forethought\, employing mutated reflections of sci-fi and fantasy paradigms from his youth\, Bobicic grapples with the filtering of American culture into post-Yugoslav Slovenia in the 1990’s. Rooted within both nostalgia and an uneasy prophecy of our future\, Bobicic’s work plays with the barely recognizable faces and symbols of decades past to create figures that personify the chaotic amalgamation of pop culture in our modern times. \n  \nImage: MATIJA BOBIČIĆ\, “Mice are from Mars and Clowns are from Earth”\, acrylic on canvas\, 51 x 40 in. SUMMARY:Fundación Pablo Atchugarry Miami presents At Memory's Edge
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 15th from 6-9pm the Fundación Pablo Atchugarry Miami is pleased to announce At Memory’s Edge\, a group exhibition curated by local curator Luna Goldberg\, featuring the work of Ashley M. Freeby\, Efrat Hakimi\, Iris Helena\, and Lihi Turjeman. The exhibited works investigate monuments as wounds of the past—structures that have manipulated the built environment and how we\, as individuals and a society\, navigate and negotiate public space and collective memory. Yet\, they also question whose voices are represented and silenced against the backdrop of our cities and urban spaces\, and which narratives are deemed worthy of being fixed in history. This Event is FREE & Open to the Public / RSVP HERE. \nAt Memory’s Edge is funded in part by the NWSA Alumni Foundation Inspiration Grant; Locust Projects’ WaveMaker Grants\, which is part of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts ‘ Regional Regranting Program; and The Ellies\, Miami’s visual arts awards presented by Oolite Arts. \nThis project is also made possible with support from the Carlo and Micol Schejola Foundation\, The Fountainhead Residency and The Fundación Pablo Atchugarry Miami.
