SUMMARY:de la Cruz Collection: Progressive Praxis
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 29th the de la Cruz Collection presents their 2017 exhibition\, Progressive Praxis. By merging a variety of styles and mediums\, the works selected for this year’s exhibition mirror contemporary culture while allowing an open-ended conversation of various interpretations and possibilities. The context of this exhibition is to create a critical understanding of our shifting visual culture. Runs from November 29th\, 2016 through November 2017.\n‘Progressive Praxis’ considers the impact of preceding art movements and how contemporary artists conceptually engage with the advancements of technology. Our society is conditioned to create\, disseminate\, and alter information as they see fit. The use of computers as a method of executing work is no longer a game changer for artists\, as there are no traditional boundaries between the virtual and physical. Artists today embrace technology to overcome the limitations of physicality and past formal art processes. The artists selected for this exhibition reveal a generational position that is inherent to an artistic idea and language of their time. The works in the exhibition create a dialogue between past and present. The exhibit also emphasizes the relationship between object and space\, as the architecture of the galleries was taken into consideration in framing this exhibition.\nSpecial hours during Art Basel Miami Beach\, Tuesday\, November 29th through Saturday\, December 3rd\, 2016 are 9am to 3pm. Admission to museum\, lectures\, events and all educational programs are free of charge. Museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday\, from 10am to 4pm.

DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 29th through Sunday\, December 4th during Miami Art Week enjoy José Parlá’s site-specific installation ‘Roots‘ at YoungArts Jewel Box. Curated by Laurie Ann Farrell of the Savannah College of Art and Design\, was commissioned by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars North America as part of the Rolls-Royce Art Program. The installation of new paintings and sculpture explores the intersections between Parlá’s Cuban and American heritages. The installation will be on view through December 15th. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 29th from 6-9pm enjoy the Opening Reception of ‘When We Were Young‘\, an exhibition on view in the YoungArts Gallery\, featuring contemporary masterworks from the early years of the renowned JPMorgan Chase Art Collection\, paired with newly created works by YoungArts Visual Arts alumni. On view from November 29th through December 4th\, 2016 during Miami Art Week. Highlights on view will include Slate (1959) by Joan Mitchell\, Homage to the Square: In Late Red (1959) by Josef Albers\, 0 through 9 (1960) by Jasper Johns\, The Marine Works (1960 – 1962) by Robert Indiana and two untitled works from 1960 by Alma Thomas. SUMMARY:ICA Miami: One Day on Success Street Opening and After-Party

The evening celebrates the opening of “One Day on Success Street“\, a major survey for the work of Thomas Bayrle\, the first American museum presentation dedicated to the renowned German artist.
