The exhibition is on view August 8th through November 5th\, 2026. \nThrough painting\, mixed media\, photography\, and historical research\, the exhibition explores the creation of Miami Beach from an unexpected perspective—examining the natural landscape that existed before development and recognizing the essential contributions of the Black and Bahamian laborers who helped build the city. The work combines art\, history\, and archival research to tell a story that is both visually engaging and historically significant. \n

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 8th from Noon – 1:30pm NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Celestial Collage. Inspired by the dreamlike and intuitive world of Eiah Haie\, where symbolism\, layered imagery\, and imagination converge\, participants will explore themes of inner worlds\, memory\, and wonder through collage\, colored pencil\, and mixed media. Through thoughtful layering and mindful making\, participants will create poetic visual compositions that invite curiosity\, reflection\, and personal meaning. RSVP HERE. \nCreativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of material exploration and the mind-to-body experience. “Research suggests that experiencing art and creativity\, even for a few minutes a day\, has tangible effects on our mental and physical health” (New York Times). DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 8th from 2 – 5pm FIU Public Humanities Lab presents Jazz in the Sanctuary taking place at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Enjoy an afternoon with The Assel Jean-Pierre Trio at the Little Haiti Cultural Center\, the performance will be set against the backdrop of Woosler Delisfort’s exhibition\, “SANCTUARY: Our Sacred Space.” \nThe Assel Jean-Pierre Trio is a dynamic jazz ensemble blending jazz\, Haitian\, gospel\, classical\, and contemporary influences into fresh\, engaging performances. Led by pianist Assel Jean-Pierre Jr.\, the trio creates memorable experiences through virtuosic musicianship\, soulful improvisation\, and heartfelt storytelling. This event is a part of The Bridge\, a partnership between the FIU Public Humanities Lab\, IPC ArtSpace and the Writer’s Room at the Betsy Hotel in South Beach. \nSet 1: 2:30-3:15 \nSet 2: 3:45-4:30 \nSANCTUARY: Our Sacred Place\, a captivating photography exhibition by Little Haiti documentary photographer\, Woosler Delisfort\, delves into the spiritual origins of Miami’s Indigenous\, African\, and Caribbean communities\, sharing moments of divine connection in temples\, churches\, and mosques. The more than 50-piece exhibition highlights how these cultures are creating sacred spaces in Miami as vital sources of life. \nSupport for this exhibition is provided by The Jorge M. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 8th from 7 – 10pm experience an intimate evening celebrating renowned Miami artist Abstrk’s Latest Body of work\, “Horsemen\,” at the Museum of Graffiti‘s Private Art Gallery. RSVP HERE. \n\n\nGuests will enjoy a solo exhibition by Cuban American artist ABSTRK featuring new works exploring memory\, family\, loss\, and legacy through the artist’s signature blend of graffiti\, abstraction\, and personal storytelling. Centered around recurring horse imagery inspired by the passing of the artist’s father\, the exhibition reflects themes of strength\, resilience\, and remembrance.
