SUMMARY:See Artist MG Stout\, Studio 317 during San Francisco Open Studios
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 5th through Sunday\, November 6th experience San Francisco Open Studios at 1890 Bryant Street Studios featuring Artist MG Stout\, Mary Gallagher Stout\, in Studio 317. \n“Painting with an optimistic eye using my imagination and photos. Art for me is a vehicle for connecting with folks and sharing our collective human experiences. My brand is about self expression and service. My work is about tapping into the idealism and curiosity of childhood and problem solving through play. Working on paper\, canvas\, and wood panels\, I paint to connect with my community and to document life as I know it. Much like the cave painters of Lascaux. Collaboration is key and creating fun art-tivities and events brings me great joy and purpose. Let’s get together!”  —MG Stout. \n  \nImage: ‘Constitution’ (2020) – Acrylic\, aerosol\, household paint\, charcoal\, ink\, collage – 30″ x 40″.

SUMMARY:Castanier Gallery presents MIRAGE: Jan Kaláb
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 27th from 11am – 5pm experience the Opening Reception of MIRAGE at Castanier Gallery\, a solo exhibition for contemporary Czech artist\, Jan Kaláb. His show will take place during Miami’s Art Basel week and will commence with two events. The exhibition will open on Sunday\, November 27th with an all-day reception\, and on Thursday\, December 1st\, the gallery will present a Miami Basel party with the presence of the artist. This is the fourth solo exhibition for Jan Kaláb at the gallery\, which will highlight a collection of new paintings. Exhibition is on view November 27th\, 2022 through January 7\, 2023. \nJan Kaláb introduces a meticulous study of color to the sweeping geometry of his canvases for this exhibition. From multi-dimensional pieces that curve organically beyond their boundaries to visual arrays of shapes that create fields of chromatic harmony\, Kaláb’s work plays with ideas of perception and the fluidity of what we see as real. Many of his paintings\, through the masterful application of color gradient\, present illusions to the eye. Incorporating sculptural elements\, such as oblong and/or protruding canvases\, the artist creates pieces that have no clear definition. One’s perspective of the piece changes with every different angle\, thus no one’s view of the paintings can be the same. \n  \nImage: Jan Kaláb\, “Melted Sahara Dawn #2” acrylic on canvas\, 35 x 51 x 6 in.
