DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 2nd from 6-9pm Mindy Solomon Gallery presents the opening reception of two simultaneous solo exhibitions: Intermission by Linda Lopez\, and February\, February by Mathew McConnell – the artists will be present.\nEach show is a solo exhibition. Linda Lopez plays with form and creates shapes that imply a story without giving away the punch line. Mathew McConnell finds hidden messages in the depths of black charcoal. By mimicking pattern and repeating textures he creates a conversation that visually stimulates the viewer\, creating replications that ultimately follow their own unique visual path. The exhibits run through July 21\, 2018.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 16th from 4-7pm the Frost Art Museum FIU presents an unparalleled opportunity for audiences to view rarely seen contemporary art from four major indigenous artistic traditions in India\, Many Visions\, Many Versions: Art from Indigenous Communities in India showcases works from the Gond and Warli communities of central India\, the Mithila region of Bihar\, and the narrative scroll painters of West Bengal. The exhibition features 47 exceptional paintings and drawings\, selected from private collections in the United States and Europe\, by 24 significant indigenous artists including Jangarh Singh Shyam\, Jivya Soma Mashe\, Sita Devi\, and Swarna Chitrakar\, among others. Made possible at the Frost Art Museum FIU by the Jane Hsiao Asian Art Endowment. The exhibition opening is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, June 19th from 12noon – 1:30pm join us at NSU Art Museum for Art Roundtable: Radical Chusmeri with Rosemarie Romero\, a Miami-based mixed-media and performance artist whose works question issues of race\, gender\, class\, women’s work and sexuality. She will share her personal stories\, pleasures\, and appreciation of camp and kitsch as she explores Latinx identity\, femininity\, and queerness. Romero uses the concept of “radical chusmeria” as a form of feminist resistance to cultural hegemony and will discuss her participatory projects Porn Nail$ Salon and FluidFaces\, immersive installations that invade the public space with hyper-feminine aesthetics\, humor\, and public intervention to explore themes of identity\, sexuality\, and self-transformation.\nRomero has an MFA in Photography from University of Florida.
