Erosion and sedimentation\, the physical traversion of architectural spaces\, creative acts of improvisation\, and the interaction of texture and color as a sensorial experience are the subjects chosen by the artists to display their visual expressions and perceptions. SUMMARY:Vizcaya Museum & Gardens presents WEAVE: a twilight parade
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 10th from 7-11pm Processional Arts Workshop (PAW) returns to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens\, continuing an annual tradition of community-built immersive art that began with WHIRL in 2016. This year’s lantern parade\, entitled WEAVE\, explores the individual patterns\, motifs\, and textures that come together to create Vizcaya. All are invited to enjoy the WEAVE Twilight Parade & Block Party at Vizcaya. For tickets and more information\, RSVP here.\nOne hundred years ago\, Vizcaya’s owner James Deering and artistic director Paul Chalfin took multiple journeys to Europe to create Vizcaya’s immersive environment\, assembling a collection of artifacts and architectural details that reflected many cultures and time periods. WEAVE brings these threads together in a participatory procession of lanterns\, sounds\, and projections created and performed by locals.\nThe performance will be built in a week-long series of public workshops. These are a hands-on opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to work closely with PAW artists Sophia Michahelles and Alex Kahn. Throughout the week\, participants will create lanterns inspired and informed by Vizcaya’s rich history\, guided by Michahelles and Kahn on concept and techniques\, and collaborate with other participants on all aspects of production. Those who wish will also have the opportunity to perform in the culminating twilight procession.

SUMMARY:MOCA NoMi: Official Closing Ceremony of PÒTOPRENS
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 11th from 3-4pm enjoy the Official Closing Ceremony of PÒTOPRENS: The Urban Artists of Port-Au-Prince at the Museum of Contemporary Art\, North Miami (MOCA NoMi). Experience a set of beautiful and enchanting songs by Dracula in the MOCA\, North Miami main gallery to ceremoniously close the PÒTOPRENS: The Urban Artist of Port-au-Prince exhibition.\nThe Miami based duo Dracula are one of the foremost folk acts of Miami and South Florida\, with a solid following not only in the music circles but also in the art and gallery scene of the Magic City. Dracula’s signature style of intricately harmonized vocals over an acoustic guitar is easily identifiable and has garnered them a solid following in Florida. Having released several EPs on cassette\, Dracula is now releasing their highly anticipated debut LP\, called  Dorys & Eli. The album is out now via Sweat Records Records. Their songs are mostly in English and/or Spanish\, but their repertoire includes songs in Portuguese\, French\, and Japanese. Dracula performs mostly covers\, tributes or interpretations of artists and songs they admire\, not limiting their selection to folk. A great example of this is their take on Selena’s “Como La Flor”\, which made NPR’s top 100 tracks of 2018.
