SUMMARY:FAR Gallery presents Side Effects by Tina La Porta
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 29th from 6-10pm join us for the Opening Reception of Side Effects\, a solo exhibition by South Florida artist Tina La Porta at FAR Gallery in Fort Lauderdale’s FAT Village Arts District during Art Walk. Tina La Porta will exhibit a wide range of works that explore and express her struggles with her own diagnosis with mental illness. This body of work is both cathartic and reflective for the artist. Since consuming pills have become a part of her daily routine they have become a central focus for many of the works on view. The exhibition will run through November 16\, 2018.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 29th from 6-10pm enjoy the Opening Reception of YES I’M A WITCH curated by Milly Cardoso at FAT Village Projects\, with a performance by Beláxis Buil. “The first time I called myself a ‘Witch’ was the most magical moment of my life.” ―Margot Adler\, Drawing Down the Moon: Witches\, Druids\, Goddess-Worshippers\, and Other Pagans in America. Yes\, I’m a Witch explores feminism\, the witch trials\, and folklore surrounding witches. Taken from Yoko Ono’s 1974 song entitled\, Yes\, I’m a Witch\, a coven of thirteen artists working in a variety of media\, recalls the past and present mythology and symbolism behind witchcraft and female persecution.
