DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 27th from 5:30 – 6:30pm the Lowe Art Museum presents ArtLab @ the Lowe: 11 Intervisual Cubans. 11 Intervisual Cubans is an exhibition curated by students who were enrolled in ARH 511\, SPA 360\, LAS 302\, and LAS 602: ArtLab @ The Lowe during the Spring 2020 semester. This curatorial studies seminar provides students with the unique opportunity to organize an exhibition annually\, based on a theme related to the expertise of that year’s instructor. This year’s focus was on Cuban visual artists who were also scenic designers. The University of Miami students curated the online exhibition with Dr. Lillian Manzor\, Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literature and Founding Director\, Cuban Theater Digital Archive.\nThis event is free for Members. Non-Member/General Admission registrants are kindly asked to consider paying a suggested fee of $5 in support of future Lowe programming. In the light of the current crisis gripping our country and our world\, the museum affirms its commitment to our community by making this fee entirely discretionary. RSVP here.\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 27th from 6-6:45pm the Pérez Art Museum Miami presents ‘Local Views at PAMM’ featuring Miami artist Jenna Balfe. Enjoy PAMM’s virtual in-gallery tour program where select local artists will speak about their creative process and artistic practice. Experience Local Views at PAMM this week with Jenna Balfe on Facebook Live and YouTube Live.\nJenna Balfe is a multi-disciplinary artist and activist from Miami. In 2012\, she began ongoing research through her community class Bodymovement\, exploring the body’s relation to existential context\, other bodies\, and Earth. In 2011\, she co-founded Nature Links for Lifelong Learning\, a nonprofit that serves young adults with developmental delays. Balfe holds a Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy from Pratt University in Brooklyn\, NY.\n“As we continue to function in a digital sphere\, PAMM remains dedicated to Miami-based artists and is excited to offer our Local Views at PAMM series weekly. Artists will discuss their artistic practice\, their creative process\, and how it relates to the museum.” Local Views at PAMM gives visitors a first-hand interaction with local artists by creating conversations centered around art and the creative process.
