SUMMARY:NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Charming Creature Creations
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 9th from 12 Noon – 1:30pm NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Charming Creature Creations. Explore the world of mini animal sculptures in this hands-on creativity class inspired by artist Diana Parkhouse. SUMMARY:PAMM Caribbean Film Focus | The Creole Pig: Haiti’s Great Loss
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 14th from 7:30 – 9:30pm PAMM presents Caribbean Film Focus | The Creole Pig: Haiti’s Great Loss. As part of Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) Caribbean Cultural Institute programming\, experience a special film screening and conversation on the 235th anniversary of the Bois Caïman ceremony with filmmaker Dudley Alexis in conversation with artist Edouard Duval-Carrie and FIU Professor Chantalle F. Verna featuring the documentary film The Creole Pig: Haiti’s Great Loss. \nThis film recounts the story of a vital\, resilient animal central to Haitian life for generations. Indigenous to Haiti\, the Creole pig was a critical resource for peasant farmers. However\, in the 1980s\, an outbreak of swine flu\, prompted USDA and the Haitian government to exterminate the entire population of Creole pigs. This drastic measure delivered a devastating economic blow to an already struggling nation. The documentary explores how this mass culling accelerated Haiti’s economic decline while examining the political and social fallout. Featuring interviews with farmers\, economists\, educators\, and political analysts\, the film delves into Haiti’s history and politics to unpack the profound and ongoing impact to the lives and culture of the Haitian people. \nAfter the program\, enjoy post-film discussion and libations in Little Haiti. Stop at Lakou for drinks and bites for purchase\, visit the gallery at IPC ArtSpace\, and don’t miss the studio of Edouard Duval-Carrié. \nSchedule \n7:30–8pm Welcome and seating\n8–9pm Film screening\n9–9:30pm Panel conversation\n10pm Post-film discussion and libations in Little Haiti (207 NE 59th Street and 225 NE 59th Street\, Miami\, FL 33137) \n  \n  \nOrganization and Support\nThis film is presented in partnership with WLRN Public Media\, The Public Humanities Lab (PHL) at Florida International University\, and IPC ArtSpace.

SUMMARY:PAMM presents Museum Circle Preview: Elliot & Erick Jiménez: El Monte
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, August 27th from 6 – 8pm PAMM Museum Circle members are invited to join artists Elliot & Erick Jiménez and Associate Curator Maritza M. Lacayo for a special reception and exclusive preview of their first solo museum exhibition at the Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM). Exclusively for Museum Circle-level members and above. RSVP HERE. \nIdentical twins and first-generation Cuban-Americans\, Elliot & Erick Jiménez (b. 1989\, Miami) were born and raised in Miami by Cuban immigrants and now reside between Miami and New York.
