DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 15th through Sunday\, January 16th from 10am – 5pm enjoy the 71st Annual Beaux Arts Festival of Art taking place outside of the Watsco Center at the University of Miami. The Beaux Arts Festival of Art is back! Come experience Miami’s longest-running juried art festival outside of the Watsco Center on the beautiful University of Miami campus. The 71st Annual Festival will feature over 150 fine art exhibitors\, a children’s art tent\, food and live entertainment. This free outdoor community event is ideal for all art enthusiasts\, offering artwork in a variety of media and price ranges. The festival is proudly presented by Mercedes-Benz Ussery Automotive Group. \nBeaux Arts was founded in 1952 by a small group of women and has grown to an organization of over 100 active members and 300 associates with a common purpose\, to increase art appreciation in the community and support the Lowe Art Museum. The festival continues to be run entirely by these philanthropic volunteers\, and is co-chaired this year by Beaux Arts Vice President Monica Sanchez and Katherine Caskey. \nGuests are encouraged to register for the free event by visiting www.beauxartsmiami.org.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 15th from 12 – 5 pm enjoy Community Voices with Octavia Yearwood & Kandy Lopez-Moreno at Art Lit 2022. NSU Art Museum is partnering with various community organizations including the Broward County Public Library System to host a variety of workshops as part of the Community Voices Series\, NSU Art Museum’s new initiative supported by the Community Foundation of Broward\, that focuses on exploring social and racial inequalities and challenging social structures\, including representation in museums. \nArtLit is the official opening celebration of Broward County Library’s “NEA Big Read 2022”\, which features the graphic novel\, The Best We Could Do: An Illustrated Memoir by award-winning author\, Thi Bui. Powerhouse motivational speaker\, Octavia Yearwood will lead an interactive discussion based on migration and how to identify with the notion of ‘home’. Visual Artist and Professor\, Kandy Lopez-Moreno will host a workshop for teens and adults where she will demonstrate a monotype printing technique used to convey messaging and imagery. MOCA North Miami’s next MOCA Makers class offers the opportunity to learn all about Printmaking. MOCA Makers is a series of art workshops offered every second Saturday of the month\, specifically for adults. Classes are free and taught by trained local artists. Students of all levels can learn a variety of art techniques\, including figure drawing\, printmaking\, portrait painting and more. Attendees are welcome to bring a friend and their own art supplies\, or art packs are available for purchase from the MOCA Shop.
