SUMMARY:ICA Miami presents Lucy Raven: Twentieth Century Lights
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 8th at 2pm join us at the Institute of Contemporary Art\, Miami when artist\, filmmaker and S-V-A graduate professor Lucy Raven will discuss the illuminating legacy of searchlights in 20th century film\, war\, and the media. As part of the Art + Research Center’s Spring 2017 Semester\, “New Social Abstractions\,” artist and filmmaker Lucy Raven will deliver a new public lecture\, “20th Century Lights\,” at ICA Miami. To learn more\, or enroll in workshops conducted by Lucy Raven\, please visit icamiami.org/arc. This talk will explore a legacy of searchlights in the 20th century—in cinema\, in war\, and in media fanfare. SUMMARY:NSU Art Roundtable: A Priori by Angelika Rinnhofer
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, April 18th from 12-1pm join us at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale for Art Roundtable: A Priori by Angelika Rinnhofer. Influenced by Anselm Kiefer’s references to German history and philosophy\, artist Angelika Rinnhofer’s approach to dealing with Germany’s history is intuitive and compelling. In her new photography project\, “a priori\,” she employs narratives of contemporary German people to explore the discovery and concealment of Jewish ancestries and reflect upon her native country’s culture.\nAngelika Rinnhofer is an artist and art educator. In 1995\, she immigrated to the United States from Germany where she had trained as a commercial photographer. In her practice\, Rinnhofer works primarily in photography\, video\, dance and performance art\, and also incorporates non-traditional art media such as baking and gaming. She received her MA in Fine Arts in new media from Transart Institute in Berlin.\nThis event is Free for members; $12 non-members\, RSVP.
