DESCRIPTION:Friday\, March 7th from 6:30-9pm The Contemporary Art Modern Project (CAMP Gallery) is ready to welcome March with two new exhibitions running simultaneously from March 7–April 4\, 2025. The gallery will be hosting an opening reception for both exhibitions\, all are welcome\, this event is Free & Open to the Public. RSVP HERE. \nAsking For a Friend unites four women artists: Heidi Hankaniemi\, Joan Wheeler\, Lydia Viscardi\, and Silvana Soriano. The exhibition borrows from the familiar mechanism of an advice column—with a twist—using distinct bodies of work to explore questions of love\, pride\, fear\, and autonomy as a form of allyship and emotional community-building. \nA note from the curator: The CAMP Gallery’s programming for this exhibition will feature submitted queries. On exhibition from March 12 – 31\, 2025. \n“The Driven Woman” is an evocative group art exhibition that explores the complexities of ambition\, sacrifice\, and resilience in the lives of women. It brings together a diverse array of perspectives\, highlighting the intricate balance women navigate as they pursue their dreams while often shouldering the weight of societal expectations and familial responsibilities. \nThrough various media\, the participating artists delve into themes such as the sacrifices women make to achieve their goals\, the often-unacknowledged labor of motherhood\, and the juggling of multifaceted roles as wives\, mothers\, and professionals. Each artwork invites viewers to reflect on the emotional and psychological toll that these sacrifices can exact\, while simultaneously celebrating the strength and tenacity that define the driven woman. “The Driven Woman” is not merely a celebration of achievement but an acknowledgment of the sacrifices that often remain unseen. It aims to foster a dialogue about the realities faced by women who strive to break barriers while fulfilling their roles within their families and communities and honors the driven women whose stories and struggles resonate across generations and cultures. \n  \nIMAGE: KX2\, ‘Obstruction II’\, 2021. KX2 is a collaboration between Ruth Avra and Dana Kleinman\, sisters and artists whose practice revolves around the fusion of metalwork and painting. Their artwork delves specifically into the domain of data research\, with a particular emphasis on climate change and water infrastructure\, in order to illuminate pressing environmental concerns.

SUMMARY:University of Miami\, Department of Art & Art History presents Zuyi Jin: Joe's Capriccio
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, March 22nd from 6 – 9pm The University of Miami presents Joe’s Capriccio\, an exhibition by Master of Fine Arts candidate Zuyi Jin. Joe’s Capriccio delves into a surreal and absurd worldview\, journeying through the protagonist Joe’s inner Heterotopia in a continuous search for authenticity in reality. The work explores the symbolic complexity of liminal spaces\, investigating the myriad forms and possibilities they present. As Joe navigates through various unfamiliar realms and unstable surreal elements\, he embarks on an ongoing quest for identity and purpose. \nThe series\, which consists of a prologue (MENDA City Dreaming) and three chapters (MENDA City\, UNI\, DAGON)\, unfolds across different dimensions—dream\, reality\, and surreality—each accessible through various forms of portals. The creatures and elements Joe encounters serve as metaphors for unforgettable experiences and emotions. Additionally\, the accompanying animation illustrates a key moment in the narrative\, where the protagonist undergoes separation\, transition\, and integration\, symbolizing the cognitive ambiguity and identity anxiety inherent in his journey. The long-scroll oil painting (prints) Rat Race similarly uses distorted and shifting spaces\, along with the protagonist’s detachment from his surroundings\, to represent the suspended\, in-between nature of liminal space. \n  \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nZuyi Jin is a Chinese painter and illustrator whose work explores contemporary issues such as the liminality of immigrant experiences\, the instability of shifting environments\, and emotional transitions. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Oil Painting from Capital Normal University in 2022. Currently\, Jin is pursuing an MFA in Illustration at the University of Miami\, where he also holds a full teaching assistantship. His art has been showcased in various Miami exhibitions\, including at MOCCA\, The Bonnier Gallery\, and the University of Miami Wynwood Gallery. \nJoe’s Capriccio is on view until April 6\, 2025\, at the University of Miami Gallery\, Wynwood Building\, 2750 NW 3rd Ave\, Suite 4\, Miami\, FL 33127.
