SUMMARY:Doral Contemporary Art Museum presents Women of Vision: Women of Public Art
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, March 5th at 6pm the Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM) will celebrate International Women’s Day with a panel about women in Public Art at the Doral Government Center. ‘Women of Vision: Women in Public Art’ is part of the museum’s programming to advance women’s leadership in the arts\, education\, and enterprise\, and this would be the third year in a row the museum will be having an event to celebrate women’s contribution to the arts. The conversation during the event will highlight the accomplishments and contributions of women in this important field.\n\nDr. Carol Damian\, Ph.D.\, will be our panel moderator. Dr. Damian is the Kislak Center Curator at Freedom Tower\, art historian and former Professor of Art History and Chairperson of the Department of Art and Art History at Florida International University\, and former Director and Chief Curator of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum\nAmanda Sanfilippo Long\, Curator + Artist Manager for Art in Public Places Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs\nArtist Carola Bravo\, Founder and Director of HARTVEST Project\, Winner Artist of Open Call for a Baptist Health Doral Campus new sculpture\nArtist Kerry Phillips\, 2018 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art nominee\, creator of ‘Midden’\, a monumental ephemeral sculpture at Deering State’s Spring Show 2019\nArtist Liene Bosquê\, Wavemaker and Ellies Award winner for HamacaS Project\, a public participatory program currently on view at MOCA North Miami

SUMMARY:Conversations at MOCA: Teresa Arcq
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 29th at 3pm join Curator Teresa Arcq at the Museum of Contemporary Art\, North Miami (MOCA) for a presentation about “Alice Rahon: Poetic Invocations” and the life and times of this Surrealist artist living in Mexico in the early twentieth century. Arcq has worked as chief curator at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City\, and as an independent curator has produced many high-profile exhibitions. She has served as a professor of Art History at Centro de Cultura Casa Lamm and published several essays for catalogues on Mexican modern art and women artists in Mexico\, as well as Surrealism. She is currently advising the exhibition and catalog for the show Global Surrealism opening in 2021 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Tate Modern Gallery in London. Arcq is also collaborating with the Schirn Kunsthalle Museum in Frankurt and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark for the upcoming exhibition Fantastik Women\, in Spring 2020 and writing for a publication on Leonora Carrington´s Tarot and one on Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington´s creative collaboration. She will be co-curating a Leonora Carrington retrospective for the Mapfre Foundation in Madrid and the Arken Museum in Denmark opening on the fall of 2020.\nRSVP & Purchase Tickets here.
