DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, October 4th from 7-9pm Locust Projects + Oolite Arts present ‘Talks‘ at the Little Haiti Cultural Center for a conversation with with José Carlos Diaz\, Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art at the Seattle Art Museum. This Event is Free & Open to the Public. RSVP HERE. \nPrior to the Seattle Art Museum\, Diaz served as the chief curator at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh\, where he organized noteworthy exhibitions including Paola Pivi: I Want It All (2022); Fantasy America (2021); Andy Warhol: Revelation (2020); Farhad Moshiri: Go West (2018); and Andy Warhol Kyoto (2022).\nPreviously\, Diaz served as the curator of exhibitions at The Bass in Miami Beach\, overseeing public art commissions and curating the traveling exhibition GOLD (2015). He also worked at Tate Liverpool on projects such as Doug Aitken’s inaugural UK public artwork and at the Liverpool Biennial on Tania Bruguera’s Arte Cátedra de Conducta. A Miami native\, he earned a BA in Art History from San Francisco State University and an MA in Cultural History from the University of Liverpool.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, October 25th from 6 – 8pm enjoy District Reads with Carol Jazzar\, celebrate the release of Jazzar’s book “All Whole of Me: Healing Through Art\, The Art of Deconstructing and Recreating Oneself”. The author will be in conversation with Stephanie Seidel at Istituto Marangoni’s Library in the Miami Design District. Book signing and rooftop reception to follow. RSVP HERE. \nCAROL JAZZAR is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist who lives and works in El Portal\, Florida. Her work is centered on Nature\, be it her own\, or that of Mother Nature. To realize her artist goals\, she sustains two practices: one in the studio\, which revolves around collages\, drawings and writing; the other outdoors\, using photography and site-specific projects. Between 2007 and 2014\, she ran a contemporary art gallery out of the garage on her property in Miami’s El Portal neighborhood\, where she showed artists such as Jen Stark\, Farley Aguilar\, David Rohn\, Shoshanna Weinberger and Ronny Quevedo\, among others. Her previous creative incarnation was as a clothing designer under the label Chains Addiction. Her work is part of the collections of the Miami-Dade Public Library\, Miami International Airport\, Related Group\, Girl’s Club and other private collections.
