SUMMARY:NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Mindful Metal Work
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 12th from 12 Noon – 1:30pm NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Mindful Metal Work. Inspired by Kiki Smith’s use of symbology\, which often incorporates animals\, plants\, and mythic imagery to explore themes of the body\, nature\, and transformation\, create a metal relief sculpture using tin and embossing tools. Through the integration of ancient symbols\, engage in a creative process that connects contemporary art practices with timeless visual language. \nCreativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of material exploration and the mind-to-body experience. Studies have shown that 45 minutes of creative activity a day reduces stress and offers mental clarity and relaxation. In addition to producing a sense of well-being\, sessions expand participants’ perceptions of forms\, while increasing brain connectivity through visual and cognitive stimulation. The workshop is led by educator Lark Keeler\, a specialist in mindfulness education. \nPreregistration Required.
