DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 18th from 10am – 6pm join us at the Pérez Art Museum Miami and enjoy artist Carrie Schneider’s (b. 1979 Chicago; based Brooklyn) film Reading Women throughout the day in the PAMM Auditorium. To make Reading Women (2012–2014)\, Schneider photographed and filmed 100 friends – many of them other artists\, writers and musicians – while each read a book of her choice\, written by a woman author\, in her own home or studio. SUMMARY:Durban Segnini Gallery presents Eduardo Ramírez-Villamizar
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 30th from 7 – 10pm Durban Segnini Gallery cordially invites you to the Opening Reception of artist Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar’s solo exhibition curated by Adriana Herrera P.h.D and Nicolas Bonilla. The artist was born in Pamplona\, Colombia in 1923. His endeavors began in abstract painting and then gradually evolved into geometric sculpture by the way of white\, monochrome reliefs. In 1956\, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) purchased one of his pieces. Back in Colombia later that year\, the artist started creating very large public reliefs\, the first of their kind in the country. In 1958\, he won the Guggenheim International Selection Award. Other important exhibitions in his career include the 1976 Venice Biennale in which he represented Colombia\, The Rufino Tamayo Museum (Mexico)\, Le Grand Palais (Paris)\, Museum of Contemporary Art Caracas\, and the Museum of Art of the National University Bogotá. In 1990\, a Museum was opened to preserve and honor his legacy in his hometown of Pamplona.
