SUMMARY:Bakehouse Art Complex presents In Conversation: Adler Guerrier + Rina Carvajal
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 10th from 6:30 – 8:30pm the Bakehouse Art Complex (BAC) presents a conversation between artist and curator Adler Guerrier\, and Rina Carvajal\, Director of the Museum of Art and Design at MDC. The two will discuss Between the legible and opaque: Approaches to an ideal in place curated by Guerrier and currently on view at the BAC through March 31\, 2020.\nBetween the legible and the opaque: Approaches to an ideal in place proposes works of various media that incorporate abstraction as both a formal and conceptual framework to render perceptions of place. The use of abstraction facilitates readings of the process inherent in their making. This process involves elements that reference diverse notions of place – its color\, materiality\, use of language\, and instantaneity as landscape. The summation of these notions\, a conversation between the work as a whole and its constituent parts\, contributes to varying degrees of legibility and evocativeness.\nThis Events is Free & Open to the Public\, RSVP here.

SUMMARY:Miami Film Festival & PAMM Screening of Lifeline: Clyfford Still
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, March 14th from 11am – 1pm join Miami Film Festival (MFF) and Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) for a special feature of Lifeline: Clyfford Still\, directed by Dennis Scholl. Clyfford Still’s striking compositions and idiosyncratic personality made him one of the preeminent figures of the American Abstract Expressionist movement. Through interviews and previously unreleased recordings\, Still’s artistic philosophy and his relationships with contemporaries Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock are revealed. After his death\, the legacy of the enigmatic artist faces further uncertainty\, as museums vie to be the permanent home of the Still collection—if they can meet the strict demands of his will. Following the screening\, film director Dennis Scholl and Thom Powers\, MFF Senior Programmer of Documentary Cinema\, will lead Q&A with the audience.\nFirst come\, first served; Seating begins 10:45am. RSVP here.\n  \nImage: Clyfford Still at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery\, 1959. Photographer unknown. Courtesy Clyfford Still Archives.
