In celebration of National Novel Writing Month\, PAMM will screen the 2019 documentary Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am.  \nThis is an artful and intimate meditation on the life and works of the legendary storyteller and Nobel prize-winner. From her childhood in the steel town of Lorain\, Ohio\, to ʼ70s-era book tours with Muhammad Ali\, from the front lines with Angela Davis to her own riverfront writing room—Toni Morrison leads an assembly of her peers\, critics\, and colleagues on an exploration of race\, America\, history and the human condition as seen through the prism of her own literature. \nThe film will be screened from the water and guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets. The two-day art festival will feature a multitude of unique works of art in categories such as Jewelry\, Drawing\, Craft\, Mixed Media\, Digital Art\, Painting (watercolor\, oil\, acrylic)\, Wood\, Glass\, Fine Handcrafts\, Photography and Three-Dimensional Sculpture.  Artists who desire to participate in ArtFest in the Pines and show off their creative works of art can apply. History Fort Lauderdale celebrates its 9th annual contemporary art exhibition of works by artists from the Seminole Tribe of Florida in the group exhibition ‘Chono Thlee: Sparking a New Era in Seminole Art’. This Event is Free & Open to the Public / RSVP HERE. \nGuests will enjoy a traditional opening\, with music\, storytelling\, artist meet and greet. With a clear focus on the future\, this exhibition of contemporary work proposes a path founded on a bedrock of trust\, truth\, dignity and integrity. Elemental relationships are analyzed\, critiqued and reinterpreted by Indigenous artists transmitting knowledge through interactions of care with and beyond shared communities. This Event is Free & Open to the Public. RSVP HERE. \n  \nAbout the Speaker: \nJosé Diaz is the Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art at the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). Prior to joining SAM\, Diaz served since 2016 as the Chief Curator at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. A specialist in contemporary art and multidisciplinary programming Diaz has organized noteworthy exhibitions at The Warhol including Paola Pivi: I Want It All(2022); Fantasy America (2021);Andy Warhol: Revelation (2020); Farhad Moshiri: Go West (2018); and Andy Warhol Kyoto(2022). Prior to his role at The Warhol\, he was the Curator of Exhibitions at The Bass in Miami Beach\, where he commissioned public artworks as well as curated the travelling group exhibition GOLD (2015). Diaz also held positions at Tate Liverpool\, working on various exhibitions including Doug Aitken’s first public artwork in the UK and at the Liverpool Biennial where he worked on Tania Bruguera’s Arte Cátedra de Conducta. Born in Miami\, he received a BA in Art History from San Francisco State University and a MA in Cultural History from the University of Liverpool.

DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 29th from 2-3:30pm join the Pérez Art Museum Miami in kicking off the opening of Leandro Erlich: Liminal\, and Miami Art Week\, with a conversation between artist Leandro Erlich and exhibition curator Dan Cameron. The two will discuss Erlich’s life and artistic practice and how it led to this first monographic survey exhibition of Erlich’s work in North America. RSVP HERE. \nPérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) presents the first monographic survey exhibition of Leandro Erlich’s work in North America. Selected and arranged by New York-based guest curator Dan Cameron\, the exhibition presents 16 works that span more than two decades of Erlich’s production. Arranged throughout PAMM’s special exhibition galleries\, the exhibition is designed to suggest an underlying narrative story line\, leading viewers through a series of encounters that act cumulatively to introduce doubt about their own sensorial input about the spaces around them. \n  \nImage: Leandro Erlich.
