SUMMARY:Art Deco Weekend\, "There's No Place Like Home"
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, January 14th through Sunday\, January 17th enjoy the 44th Annual Art Deco Weekend hosted by the Miami Design Preservation League. The longest-running free community cultural festival in Miami Beach\, and for 2021\, they’re going virtual. This year’s poster was designed by 2020 poster artist Sergey Serebrennikov\, “There’s No Place Like Home” depicts a Deco flapper on her balcony under the Miami Beach moonlight. As she looks inside\, past her dog friend\, she enjoys dancers – perhaps at the virtual Deco Speakeasy – on her 1930s television set beside a Deco lamp and table. In the distance through the mirror\, the cupola of the historic Versailles Hotel – Roy France’s Art Deco skyscraper – is revived and shining bright again after many years of neglect. A rainbow beckons us all to a happier and healthier new year.\n2021’s virtual event will be something we can all celebrate safely from the comfort of home. Visit artdecoweekend.com for a full list of events.\nPre-Order the official 2021 Art Deco Weekend Poster: click here.\n\n“This year’s festival will be our first all virtual event. Many of the beautiful hotels are open – and you can enjoy the festival from the comfort of your hotel room or wherever you have an internet connection. But we won’t have in-person events in order to ensure the health and safety of our guests. This year\, we’re pleased that our guests will be able to experience our events virtually from wherever they reside. The festival is part of the Miami Design Preservation League’s commitment to preserve\, promote and protect our city through historic preservation and educational initiatives.”\nCan You Imagine Miami Beach without the Art Deco Buildings on Ocean Drive? Art Deco Weekend was created nearly 43 years ago by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) to showcase the beautiful Art Deco buildings of South Beach\, saving it for future generations. MDPL’s early work was the catalyst that created the vibrant\, world-class city we live in today. Become a member today and help support the Miami Design Preservation League’s mission to preserve Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District. Your gift will help continue to take MDPL’s signature event and year-round efforts to greater heights\, join here.
