This 1.5 to 2-hour walking tour provides an introduction to the Art Deco\, Mediterranean Revival\, and Miami Modern (MiMo) styles found within the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District. Explore hotels\, restaurants\, and other commercial structures with a visit to a number of interiors. This free summer exhibit will feature impressionist fine art landscapes by Tim Forman along with traditional and modern interpretations of wildlife by local artists Stephanie McMillan\, Kim Heise\, Rosemary Fineberg\, and Stephanie Leyden. A free meet and greet with the artists will take place on Thursday\, July 11th from 6 – 8pm\, at the New River Inn Museum of History building at (231 Southwest Second Avenue). Set in the 1980s\, Russell Banks’ Continental Drift follows two plots—one of a working-class New Englander moving to Florida in search of riches and the other\, of a young Haitian woman emigrating to the United States to flee the strife of her homeland. The group will discuss this novel in conversation with We Are in This Together: Selections from the Collection which considers the complex network of our increasingly globalized world.
