SUMMARY:NSU Art Museum Art Rountable: Aurora Molina
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, October 16th from 12noon -1:30pm experience Art Rountable with Aurora Molina at NSU Art Museum. Addressing the objectification of beauty and growing anonymity of the elderly in our society\, Miami-based artist Aurora Molina will discuss the media-fueled manipulation\, edification and standardization of physical beauty and the increasing denial of the actual process of physical aging. “To be old today is to slowly become invisible\,” states the artist. Molina’s work is\, in many ways\, a critique of this postmodern iconography as it attempts to highlight not only the natural process of aging but society’s refusal to recognize it as such.\nAurora Molina was born in La Havana\, Cuba\, in 1984\, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. She received her Associates of Arts degree in Visual Arts from Miami-Dade College\, Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from FIU\, and Master’s degree in contemporary art from the Universidad Europea de Madrid. She is represented by Bernice Steinbaum Gallery.\nFree for members; $10 non-members. RSVP HERE. Lunch may be pre-ordered from the museum cafe by calling 954-262-0255. View menu here.
