Art Palm Beach takes place at the Palm Beach County Convention Center\, it is the premier art fair in South Florida during the height of the Winter Season.\nLenore Rae Lampi has been associated with her biomorphic birch bark series for years but has recently moved seamlessly into a new arena of cultural commentary and pop-art influenced objects. In her latest Big Bling Series\, Lenore has embraced the forms of ribbons and bows\, essentially birch bark of another kind\, the outermost layer of cultural icons and nostalgic tendencies.\nAlways fascinated with the undulating forms in Classical drapery since the days of observing her mother’s workings as a seamstress\, Lenore now captures this movement and narrative with a Pop Art sensibility. Her new series explores the notion of adornment of the affordable kind. Ribbons\, bows\, and streamers in an historical context may evoke feelings of nostalgia\, kitsch\, and pomp. Referencing Pop Art to describe the work\, with the intention to monumentalize these humble objects. Comprised of architects\, software developers\, filmmakers\, journalists\, lawyers\, artists\, and scientists\, Forensic Architecture is a research agency that uses architectural software and an architectural sensibility to investigate human rights violations. This Event is Free & Open to the Public\, RSVP here.\nForensic Architecture: True to Scale displays the evidence and explains the methodologies behind over a dozen Forensic Architecture investigations. While providing an overview of how advanced techniques such as photogrammetry\, audio analysis\, augmented reality\, 3D modeling\, machine learning\, and crowd sourcing support their findings\, the exhibition considers the complex relationship between a material fact and its representation in the public realm. Amidst what Founding Director Eyal Weizman refers to as the “dark epistemology” of a post-truth media environment\, this collection of meticulously researched\, carefully analyzed\, and conscientiously presented evidence demonstrates that it is both possible and imperative to verify what is really happening in the world around us.

SUMMARY:Pan American Art Projects presents Beyond Paper Boundaries
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, February 25th from 4 – 7pm enjoy the Opening Reception of the group show Beyond Paper Boundaries at Pan American Art Projects. Paper is an ironic material\, at once delicate\, yet resilient. It is so thin and fine\, and yet the content on it can carry so much weight. Paper has been the base upon which we record our history\, reveal secret loves\, mark victories and disasters\, express sorrow and joy. Paper is so fragile\, and yet some of our most important remnants of our past have been preserved on this fine material. The exhibition is curated by Janda Wetherington and is on view through March 21\, 2020.\nThe purpose of this show is two-fold. First\, in the main gallery\, a look at the way that artists can manipulate and contort paper to bring actual dimension and weight to it sculpturally\, through folding\, shadow play\, and layering\, The act of complex engineering converts the two-dimensional paper into a three-dimensional object. These pieces push the physical boundaries between the second and third dimensions. Artists in the main gallery include: Ariamna Contino\, Yaya Firpo\, José Manuel Fors\, Carlos Gallardo\, Ana Meneses\, Ronald Morán\, Andrés Paredes\, Adislen Reyes\, Graciela Sacco\, Rusty Scruby\, and Toña Vegas.\nSecond\, the gallery will introduce Grey Salon\, a space which gives the opportunity to exhibit highlighted works on paper from their collection creating the perfect setting for beginning collectors.\n\n  \nImage: Ronald Moran’s ‘Entre Las Flores’\, 2006.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, February 26th from 7–9pm the Museum of Contemporary Art\, North Miami (MOCA) is pleased to present the world premiere and screening of Czech film maker Lea Petrikova’s 2020 film After the Magician which is inspired by the life of surrealist painter and poet Alice Rahon. The screening is followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Lea Petrikova.\nIn 1947\, the surrealist artist Alice Rahon created her only film The Magician\, yet the film got lost before its completion. After the Magician re-narrates the lost film and explores circumstances of its production. The project After the Magician is produced by Perfilm\, co-produced by UMPRUM\, and was supported by the Czech Film Fund and the Zlín Film Talent.\nDoors open at 6:30pm / Free event. This month\, Johanne Rahaman will lead the tour. Johanne Rahaman is a Trinidadian-born\, Miami-based documentary photographer\, working in both film and digital formats since 2002\, and founder of the ongoing photographic archive\, BlackFlorida\, which examines shifting urban and rural spaces occupied by the Black communities throughout the State. Her work has appeared in the New Yorker Magazine\, Vogue\, National Geographic\, Hyperallergic\, Slate\, Jezebel\, Huffington Post\, and NPR. She has been published in Oxford American Magazine\, Photo District News\, and the photojournal\, Mfon: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora.\nLocal Views at PAMM gives visitors a first-hand interaction with local artists by creating conversations centered around art and the creative process. Defying description\, her myriad of personal influences have created a product that begs attention across the board. Her chosen instruments are voice\, violin and fiddle (in that order). Nicole is a rich velvet voice with technical skill and personality to boot! She is a rising star in the jazz community who\, like many others\, has been at it for years. Nicole moved to Florida in 1980 and has created quite a buzz. According to the Miami Sun Sentinel\, “Every musical hat fits Nicole Yarling. For more than a decade\, she has been a part of South Florida’s musical world as a singer and violinist\, working in jazz\, rock\, R and B\, experimental music and a few other styles that defy description.”\nExtended Events\n7pm / Art Prevails Project\nArt Prevails Project will host a spoken word element with four poets performing original works inspired by moments in black history on MOCA Plaza. \n7:45pm / Wade in the Water Dance Performance\nGuests will also enjoy a special dance performance by Florencia A. Guerrier\, choreographed by Fluxus Haus founder\, Agatha Wright. This contemporary rendition of “Wade in the Water\,” a dance piece originally created by Mr. Alvin Ailey in his full length work titled “Revelations\,” is a historical compilation of the traditions\, faith\, beliefs and tenacity of the African American people set to gospels and blues music. \nCafé Crème will host a bar with a signature MOCA cocktail and the US Census will be on-site distributing giveaways.
