DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 1st from 11am – 5pm enjoy the Opening Reception of Jorge Rios: The Age of the Wind at Pan American Art Projects. The gallery is pleased to announce The Age of the Wind\, a solo show of Cuban-born artist Jorge Rios\, comprised of two main elements: Nature as a metaphor for the substantive real world\, and text as a symbol for knowledge. This is a new body of work\, with several paintings and watercolors; the show opens on May 1st and closes on July 10th. This event is Free & Open to the Public\, RSVP HERE.\nThe artist describes these paintings as composed of two main elements:\n“Nature as a metaphor for the substantive real world and text as a symbol for knowledge. The paradox of describing natural phenomena – that not only precede humanity but is by definition untraceable – is a metaphor to our contradictory instinct of understanding the universe and the narrow limits of this understanding. The structure of the text is always the same grandiose phrase This was the first… This intentional repetition acts as an echo to the repetitive rhetoric and language structure common in religious narratives.”\nJorge Rios’s work transcends the flatness of ordinary visual language reaching the subtlety\, ambivalence and complexity that we perceive more clearly in other art forms such as music or poetry. Rios tries to establish through his art a link between the individual experience of reality and the totality of existence.\nHe currently lives and works in Chicago\, Illinois.

Free and open to the public\, select a date & 30 minute timeslot / RSVP here.\nAppointments are recommended\, walk-ins are welcome as capacity permits; visitor capacity is limited to 10 people at a time; visitors are required to wear a facial covering per City of Miami Emergency Order 20-16 and are subject to a contactless temperature screening upon entry; entrance may be denied for noncompliance.\nMAIN GALLERY: GeoVanna Gonzalez: HOW TO: Oh\, look at me\nHOW TO: Oh\, look at me\, a new site-specific installation by Miami and Berlin-based artist GeoVanna Gonzalez\, functions as the fifth iteration of the artist’s ongoing HOW TO series\, in which Gonzalez creates works of art to accompany poems featured in the online open-source poetry collection tutorials by Martin Jackson at www.tutorials.fyi. The project serves as a physical embodiment of Martin Jackson’s poem No Rothko\, creating an immersive environment that captures the metaphysical experience of viewing a Rothko painting and sharing this experience as a collective activity. HOW TO: Oh\, look at me expresses Gonzalez’s deep commitment to creating provocative\, participatory social spaces within institutional settings.
