DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 15th from 7:30-9:30pm enjoy the Opening Reception of LAB (Locust Arts Builders) Gen Z at Locust Projects. Join us in celebrating the opening of an exhibition created by 17 high school student artists over the past four weeks. Working under the mentorship of two established contemporary visual artists\, the students learned about the practical and creative aspects of mounting a public exhibition. This unique hands-on opportunity allows selected students to widen their perspectives and skills\, connect with their peers\, and meet local artists\, collectors and arts professionals as part of the experience of developing an exhibition in an established visual arts space. Established in 2010\, LAB extends Locust Projects’ nearly 20-year commitment to experimentation and innovation in artistic practice to the next generation of South Florida artists.\nA committee of local art professionals selected the 2017 LOCUST ART BUILDERS from an open call of more than forty applicants. Schools represented: Gulliver Preparatory Academy\, Design and Architecture Senior High\, New World School of the Arts\, Miami Killian Senior High\, John A. Ferguson Senior High\, Coral Gables Senior High\, and the TERRA Environmental Research Institute.
