Experience Toronto Artist Daniel Mazzone At 1 Hotel South Beach During Miami Art Week

Toronto-based contemporary artist Daniel Mazzone kicks off Art Basel Week in Miami at 1 Hotel South Beach on Wednesday, December 5th from 7:30pm – 11:30pm. Hailed as “the next Andy Warhol” by Elite Daily, Daniel Mazzone made his official Art Basel Miami debut in 2015 selling out his entire collection of 24 pieces. His work has caught the eye of celebrities, professional athletes, and art collectors alike. Some of his high-profile clientele consists of The Tanenbaum family, Michael Wekerle, François-Henry Bennahmias and José Bautista.

Daniel’s vibrant collages include a visual history of his subject—original letters, magazine covers, song lyrics—which he assembles to create eye-popping works of art. Some pieces include newspaper clippings from the 1800s, while others contain rare and exotic artifacts. Daniel’s uniquely authentic style conveys the many layers and complexities of each subject. Above all, his technique imbues each piece with soul and a deep sense of character.

Daniel has previously exhibited at Canadian Heritage Art Company (2013, 2014), Hazelton Fine Art Gallery (2013, 2014), and at the 2014 Toronto International Art Fair. In May 2015, Daniel held his first New York exhibition, “Torn Apart”, at the Carriage House Arts Center. We had the pleasure to interview this fascinating artist, he is charming and talented, we’re super excited to experience his exhibition this coming Miami Art Week 2018.

Q – What is the best part about being an artist and how did you get started on this path?

A – The BEST part is definitely being able to wake up and do something you love. I get to do art all day! I work now more then I ever did. I retired the day I did something I loved. I work 100 hour a week now so that I NEVER have to work 40 again.

Q – Where does your inspiration come from?

A – All over! definitely comes from traveling, meeting people, seeing how they live and their stories, and of course my ideas of how I see the world.

Q – Can you tell us about your exciting upcoming show during Art Basel Miami Beach?

A – I’m so excited! I’ve been working on it day and night for 6 months now. I have so many new cool art works and sculptures for the first time that I’m dying to show everyone.

Q – Any rituals you have when you’re creating an art piece?

A – No rituals that I can think of but I definitely need music playing. It helps me get into my groove. And if I ever feel stressed out, I get up and dance.

Q – What is your creative process like?

A – I love to research my ideas and the materials that I’m going to put into my work. Then I build the art work like a sculpture… piece by piece.

Q – Tell us more about your charity work and your love for giving back?

A – I love to be able to finally give back. It’s okay to do well but it’s very important for me to give back to causes I care deeply about such as kids and animals.
